【小説のあらすじ】
舞台は第一次世界大戦後のニューヨーク郊外。
生い立ちや経歴が謎に包まれた若き大富豪・ギャツビーの隣人・ニックは、親交を深める中で、ギャツビーが豪華な大邸宅で夜ごと盛大なパーティを催す理由が、今は人の妻となった元恋人・デイズィがいつか現れるのを待っているためだと知る。
ニックのとりなしで5年ぶりに再会し、距離を縮めていく二人。
だが、デイズィが運転中に夫・トムの情婦・マートンを轢き殺してしまったことから、ギャツビーは非業の死を遂げることとなる。

[Novel Synopsis]
The story is set in the suburbs of New York after World War I.
Nick, a neighbor of Gatsby, a young millionaire whose background and career are shrouded in mystery, learns as they become closer that the reason Gatsby holds such lavish parties every night at his luxurious mansion is because he is waiting for his ex-lover Daisy, who is now married to someone else, to show up someday.
Through Nick’s mediation, the two meet again for the first time in five years, and the two grow closer.
However, Daisy runs over and kills Gatsby’s husband Tom’s mistress, Merton, while driving, leading to Gatsby’s untimely death.
